About my equipment
Due to my muscular disease I have many kinds of special equipment. These devices are not a limit, but they actually enable me to live a normal life.
I use a ventilator through tracheostomy (an opening in my throat). The machine breaths for me and therefore I feel good and have the energy to work, have hobbies etc. I use the ventilator for at least 2/3 of a day.
I've used a ventilator for over 19 years, so it's a completely natural thing to me. The quality of life has increased tremendously, especially due to my new vent Saime Elisée which has the latest technology and is very small and easy to take with me wherever I go.
I also have a suction machine. I need it to suction the secretions out of my pipes. This is because I can't cough very much.
Both of these devices are compact and easy to take with me at the back of my wheelchair. So having special equipment does not limit the daily life.
